Webb's
Family Pharmacy Announces New Home Care Service
May 8, 2003
– Webb’s Family
Pharmacy of Rochester has announced the addition of a home medical and
respiratory equipment department to its pharmacy at
724 Main Street
. The new department will
offer a wide range of equipment, such as wheelchairs, walking aids, oxygen and
respiratory therapy equipment, for rent or sale to residents of
Rochester
and
Akron
and the counties of
Fulton, Marshall and Pulaski.
Webb’s will offer these services through an agreement signed this month
with ConvaCare Services, Inc., a regional supplier of home medical and
respiratory equipment. Webb’s
Family Pharmacy joined the ConvaCare network in order to more effectively serve
the complete home care needs of their patients. “With this addition to our pharmacy we truly are
Fulton
County
’s Community Health Source, taking care of all of our patients home
health care needs.” said Harry
Webb, the owner of Webb’s Family Pharmacy.
ConvaCare is accredited by Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP).
“ConvaCare’s accreditation reinforces our ability to deliver quality
healthcare,” said Harry Webb, of Webb’s Family Pharmacy” and demonstrates
our own dedication to the health and well-being of the community.”
“We believe this service will boost our prescription business, as well
as increase the breadth of services we offer
Rochester
and
Fulton
County
and the surrounding areas. It
will be a nice complement to our current disease management programs. Our medical community always demands the best when it comes to their
patient’s health, Harry Webb, pharmacist at Webb’s Family Pharmacy added.
“And we feel it’s vital to provide a full line of home medical and
respiratory equipment and services to meet those needs."
According to Paul Lavignette, Area Manager for ConvaCare Services, the
selection of Webb’s Family Pharmacy as the ConvaCare agency for
Fulton
County
followed a lengthy evaluation of the
company’s suitability and commitment to the home medical industry. “Before we accept a store as an agency,” Lavignette said, “we must
assure ourselves that it enjoys an excellent reputation for service in the
medical community, and that its owners will commit the considerable resources
and effort which the delivery of home medical equipment and services
requires.”
The concept of home care was revitalized after Congress passed the
Medicare Act in 1965. As costs of
health care delivery have spiraled higher over the past two decades, home care
has become a more attractive, economical alternative. As a result, the need for medical equipment and supporting services for
use in the home also increased at a phenomenal pace.
Pharmacist Wayne H. Robbins founded the ConvaCare Services, Inc. in
Bedford
,
Indiana
in 1969. The
company has since grown into a franchise network of over 70 independent retail
pharmacies and other local healthcare providers in
Indiana
,
Illinois
,
Kentucky
, and
Ohio
. ConvaCare
is head quartered in
Bedford
with over 50 employees.
